Everything is BIGGER...in TEXAS!!!

I will for sure be here for the next 12 weeks, so you can send mail to...

225 N. Mesa Hills
Apartment #2412
El Passo, TX 79912

Also, I'm not always able to respond to e-mails because I don't have time, but I have time to write letters! Please leave your address in the e-mails you send me so I can reply!

High 5!

1. I got to talk to my family at the airport!

2. My trainer is a God sent angel! I love her SO much. Her name is Hermana Mckendrick and she is from Utah.

3. The bus ride to El Passo yesterday! We took an old, school bus all the way down to El Passo with the windows rolled down the whole time, haha. It was about a 5 hour drive from Albuquerque. The bus drivers couldn't speak English but were SO nice and gave us fresh Mexican fruit on the way down. In the picture you can see everyone's luggage stacked up in the back-haha.

4. My area is super poor but our apartments are brand new and super nice! They have a gym that we use every morning.

5. We have a baptism on Sunday!

Down Low, 2 slow.

1. I had to say goodbye to my MTC district.

2. My very first day, I went greenie contacting and it was pouring rain so no one was outside. We started knocking on doors and everyone was SO mean to us...haha. That night I prayed that I would come down South because the people here are much nicer. I must be Heavenly Father's favorite.
Say this like Fat Amy... "I should've taken that Spanish class more seriously..." So, I could literally throw a rock to Mexico! No one speaks English here and if they do, it's their second language. I'm slowly but surely picking some of it up but please pray for my tongue. I got pass along cards, a PMG, and a BOM in Spanish so I spend a little bit of time studying those. I love it! I am SO happy here. The people are so humble and would literally give you the shirt off their back. We are the UTEP Sisters so we cover the YSA ward here in El Passo. Our boundaries are huge. The city is super run down but like I said, the people are incredible and this is exactly where I want to be.

When I got here, we went through a lot of training but now it's time to get to work! This morning we went and helped an elderly lady in her yard, we have 3 lessons later on today, and then dinner with the ward mission leader. Our ward is small but growing. Hermana Mckendrick calls it the "hospital for broken spirits". Our chapel looks like a Catholic Cathedral. It's beautiful.

It gets up to about 100 degrees here. It's hot but it reminds me of home and I don't mind it.

I'm really working on opening my mouth. My companion is really good at just doing it and not hesitating. The spirit is strong with in our companionship and I know it directs us where to go and what to say. Elder Bednar says it best, "Quit worrying about it!" We are safe and called of God to do this work. He is going to put people in our paths, specifically for us, and it is our job to open our mouths. It is truly amazing to see how prepared some people come. I love my calling. This mission is a mission of miracles.

Recently I've been studying charity. Read Moroni 7:43-48. "Perfect love casteth out all fear."

Te quiro mucho and God speed!

Love, Hermana Bowen
